18 March 2007, Edinburgh and New York - Thistle & Broom today announced their newest 'face' is also a tremendous voice - Scotland's beautiful and talented Margaret Kelly.
Kelly, born in Bellshill just outside of Glasgow now makes her home in New York City with her husband former international motocross champion William Feeney. Kelly has made a considerable impact on audiences hidden beneath layers of pppurrrfect make-up playing Grizabella in the North American touring company production of CATS.
Just off her rigorous touring schedule and back in New York working on her new CD Kelly won't be called on to break into song for Thistle & Broom but she was quick to sing praises for the firm. "As a woman whose career demands an ability to evoke emotions I can't tell you what it means to me personally to wear exquisite clothing made in, and of fabrics woven in, Scotland. The incredible beauty and craftsmanship of all the Thistle & Broom products gives me, as a Scotsman, an incredible sense of pride."
"Our choices of clothing allow us to make a statement about what's important to us on a very personal level. All too often clothes are about 'the latest designer'. Our clientele, like Scotland, have a self possessed confidence and don't need labels to make their presence known - Margaret epitomises that trait," said Thistle & Broom's managing director Teresa Fritschi. "Of course she's physically beautiful but there is something ephemeral about her that I wanted conveyed with our clothing - perhaps it is the essence of Scotland that come like a breath, whatever it is she's magic."
Ms. Kelly will be showing off Thistle & Broom's Dichotomy Gown, Dochart cocktail dress and Longing Cloak all in timeless and exquisite Harris Tweed in VisitScotland's Scottish Village during Tartan Week NY celebrations. A fashion shoot will also take place during Tartan Week in Grand Central Station on one of the grand staircases with another Thistle & Broom spokes model, Chris Capaldi who will be wearing fashions from Edinburgh's 21st Century Kilts. Both Kelly and Capaldi will be available after the shoot to answer questions about Scotland, Thistle & Broom and 21st Century Kilts.About Margaret Kelly
