Beinn Mòr, Gaelic for Great Mountain, OS Grid NM525330 (966 metres/3169 feet), is the only Munro on the Isle of Mull and is situated on the south of the island rising above the shores of Loch na Keal. Both the four and six hour walk begin from Mull’s B8035 road and from the summit a circular refuge of stones can be found and on a clear day the view includes local views of the Isle of Iona, Staffa, the Ross of Mull and the Sound of Mull and more distant ones of Ireland, the Outer Hebrides and to the north east Ben Nevis and east Ben Cruachan. This land mass is thought to be the remains of what was once the largest volcano in Europe.

Catherine’s messenger bags (increasing called ‘man bags’ in shelter pubs) are named for Sir Hugh T. Munro and those she creates for Thistle & Broom are specially selected fabrics sourced from across Scotland. Beinn Mòr is takes advantage of the world’s first certified organic tweed from Isle of Mull Weavers at Ardalanish Farms. The handsome salt & pepper tweed is woven of natural white and rare breed peat coloured Hebridean sheep from the flocks at Ardalanish and perfectly mirrors the landscape of Beinn Mòr dusted with snow. Fitted with dark brown English Bridle leather straps and chrome plated hardware the four layers of Ardalanish tweed is both substantial and lightweight. Your laptop will fit inside, neoprene zippered envelope (not sold through T&B) recommended to protect it from static charge.

Your purchase of Beinn Mòr will jointly benefit the reforestation efforts of the John Muir Trust and Scottish Native Woods.
