Sgurr Dearg, Gaelic for Red Peak (OS grid NG444215) measures 986 m/3235 ft, and its noteworthy Inaccessible Pinnacle, is the second highest peak (Sgurr Alasdair being the highest) in the Cuillin range. Located in the main Cuillin ridge on the Isle of Skye at the junction of Coire Lagan, Coire na Banachdich and Coir' Uisg and has the reputation of being the most difficult of all of the Munro's to climb. The last 50 m/150 ft must be rock climbed and the pinnacle, unlike much of the Cuillin range, is of basalt making it slippery when wet - frequently the case given the micro-climate of Skye.

For the Sgurr Dearg Munro we've chosen a handsome hand woven muted check of Harris Tweed of heathered shades of medium blue, deep grey and loden-y green with cream is set off by brown bridle leather fasteners and strap and chromed brass hardware to mirror the topography which the Cuillin and Skye can offer visitors.

An unyielding statement of national pride and heritage can be found on the reverse of each Munro bag - the label authenticating the fabric as issued by the Harris Tweed Authority.

Catherine’s messenger bags named for Sir Hugh T. Munro for Thistle & Broom are made of specially selected fabrics sourced from across Scotland. From the exquisite jewel tones of Luskentyre Harris Tweed and Harris Tweed Textiles made on the Isles of Harris and Lewis, the entirely natural palette offered by tweeds from Isle of Mull Weavers at Ardalanish Farms to the elegant Thistle & Broom Tweeds as woven by A. Eliot Fine Fabrics these fabrics represent some of the very best which Scottish textiles have to offer. Your purchase of any of the jointly benefit the reforestation efforts of the John Muir Trust and Scottish Native Woods.
