At 450m high Ronas is Shetland's highest hill. Up here the Earth is scored with bearing witness to repeated glacial activity including that of Loch Lomond Stadial. The unique patterned ground formed by glacial and permafrost activity absent from Shetland today, and exposed by the high winds and heavy, but infrequent, snows and their subsequent melting cycles. All of this serves as the source of inspiration for Mary's original design of natural grey and cream pattern mirroring Nature's erosion patterns.
